Daughter of the Storms II

I painted this as a Valentine’s Day present for Kay and as a re-interpretation of my original Daughter of the Storms .

I based this on a photo of Kay’s head and shoulders that I took just before we went to see Dissection in Bradford Rio; the makeup in the painting is more-or-less what she was wearing in the photo.

The rest of the painting – the body, hands, backdrop and landscape – all grew up bit-by-bit as I gradually enlarged the canvas. Originally the canvas was wider, but I chopped it to give the angle more force.
