The Hunt - WIP · 26 May 2009
So I was sat at home on Friday night, having a few beers with work, when the conversation drifted onto what I’d be painting next. I mentioned that I was thinking of another vampire piece, and during the next few minutes we thrashed out the idea of a hunting piece – with Nosferatu marshalling his brides for the kill.
I start by sketching in the basic figures (actually I started with pen on paper, but I don't have a working scanner right now). I'm trying to use bestial poses - especially the girl to the left, who (if you can see) is on all fours. Really pleased with the girl holding the heart (yes, that's what it's supposed to be!).
Now we’re cooking! You never know, I might get around to finishing this one!
I've sketched in the Huntsman (Nosferatu!), and added some red counter-lighting. The third girl moved around - she looked a bit too cheesy before. I'm really pleased with the composition now, so it's really all about the detail from here on.
Naked Stone · 28 March 2009
A recent trawl through my archives unearthed these files from my naked statue women days. You might recognise two of them from Transcendence and Stone Lovers, except these are the original models before I found backgrounds to put them in.
Update on Black Madonna · 15 February 2009
It’s coming along; not as I originally envisaged, but getting there. I think the skulls she’s sitting on may change as they don’t really fit yet. Colouring still to be determined – I want to make it quite subtle, and ideally very cold and almost monochromatic.
The Black Madonna · 31 January 2009
It’s time for a new project – my day job has been reigning over my free time recently, but by next week I’ll finally have some time to myself again.
The working title is “The Black Madonna”, and it continues my Blasphemy series. I’ve published the rambling doodles that pass for my preliminary work, so you can see just how disorganised and chaotic my process is.
Unfortunately I still have no time for commissions – my regular job has unpredictable busy periods, meaning that I can’t commit to any paid work. However, all of my personal projects are available for use if you’d like to buy the rights – just send me an email if you’re interested.
